The Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, with its broad focus on management, taxation, accounting and finance, information

systems, economics, business education, and law, is seeking to fill the following position as soon as possible within the framework of the

“Sustainable Economy” priority area:

W2 – University Professorship (f/m/d)

in Economics, with a focus on Sustainability

We are seeking a candidate with an outstanding international track record in one of two possible areas: labor and social security (e.g., health

or long-term care, labor markets of the future, unemployment and social insurance) or environmental economics. The candidate conducts

empirical research using microdata and state-of-the-art methods of causal inference and publishes their research findings in the leading

international journals in the field. The professorship is affiliated with the Department of Economics. We expect the candidate to be willing to

contribute to the Paderborn Research Center for Sustainable Economy (PARSEC) and to collaborate on major collaborative grant proposals

with members of the department, PARSEC, and the faculty. PARSEC brings together and actively develops faculty-wide collaborations in the

areas of sociocultural, ecological, and economic sustainability in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer. Experience in securing and

carrying out competitive third-party funded projects (preferably from the German Research Foundation, DFG) is an asset. Applicants must

possess the necessary interpersonal and leadership skills and be willing to participate in academic self-governance.

In teaching, the professorship offers thematically relevant courses focused on the “Sustainable Economy” in both German and English,

thereby making a central contribution to the cross-disciplinary theme of sustainability, which is firmly anchored in all degree programs. In

addition, the professorship is intended to broaden the faculty’s methodological training. It strengthens the offering of English-language

methods courses during the Bachelor’s specialization phase as well as in the Master’s programs and contributes to the long-term

development of the “Data Science in Economics” track. Research and teaching experience in the specified field, as well as a willingness to

supervise doctoral candidates, secure external funding, and participate in academic self-governance are expected.

Recruitment requirements: § 36 Abs. 1 Ziff. 1 to 4 HG NRW (University law of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia) (completed university degree,

pedagogical aptitude, Ph.D. degree and additional academic achievements).

Since Paderborn University seeks to increase the number of female professors, applications of woman are especially welcome. In case of equal

qualification and scientific achievements, they will receive preferential treatment according to the North Rhine-Westphalian Equal

Opportunities Policy (LGG), unless there are cogent reasons to give preference to another applicant. Likewise, applications of disabled people

with appropriate qualification are explicitly requested. This also applies to people with equal status according to the German social law SGB

IX. Paderborn University is certified as a family-friendly university. With our Dual Career Service, we support your partner with career orientation

in the region if required. We will be happy to provide you with information about living and working in Paderborn and help you to find childcare

options. If you are coming to us from abroad, our Welcome Services will support you on your arrival in Germany.
