Beschreibung
The start date is on 1. November 2026 or later.
The chair’s research focuses on the study of the Higgs particle and electroweak symmetry breaking, and the search for ‘new physics’ with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Furthermore, we are involved in the development of novel information technologies in the field of federated scientific computing and in the operation of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) infrastructure in Germany. We also contribute to physics studies for a future e+ e- collider at CERN.
The successful candidate is expected to participate primarily in our research activities at the ATLAS experiment. In addition to meeting the requirements for civil service appointment, candidates must have an excellent / qualified PhD in collider-based experimental particle physics, a broad and significant knowledge in the field of particle physics phenomenology and experience in large-scale high-energy physics experiments. The candidate should have demonstrated a strong potential for outstanding achievements as an independent researcher.
The opportunity to undertake a habilitation and further qualification is provided. There is an obligation to undertake teaching duties amounting to 4 hours per week during teaching periods.
The position (100% full time equivalent) is initially limited to three years with the possibility of renewal up to a total of six years.
