Paderborn University is a high-performance and internationally oriented university. Within interdisciplinary teams, we undertake forward-looking

research, design innovative teaching concepts and actively transfer knowledge into society. As an important research and cooperation partner, the

university also shapes regional development strategies. We offer our employees in research, teaching, technology and administration a lively, familyfriendly and equal opportunity environment, a lean management structure and diverse opportunities. Join us to invent the future!

In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the Department of Computer Science, the following professorship is to

be filled as soon as possible:

W2 – University Professorship for IT-Security

(f/m/d)

Requirements:

Paderborn University’s Department of Computer Science is nationally competitive and internationally visible in security, with four professorships in

this area.

Successful applicants should be established in at least one area of IT security and meaningfully complement our existing professorships – especially

Secure Software Engineering, Empirical Software Engineering, Cryptography, and System Security.

We expect applicants to be willing and interested in collaborating with the working groups in this subject area, the department’s strategic focus areas

(data science, quantum computing, software engineering, and domain-specific computing), and beyond.

Scientific qualifications should be demonstrated through publications at leading international conferences in IT-Security. We expect experience in

acquiring externally funded projects. We expect applicants to be willing to participate in applications for large-scale projects, especially

interdisciplinary projects, to actively participate in shaping new projects, and to integrate into existing research institutions. Paderborn University

offers excellent opportunities for this with research institutions such as the Software Innovation Campus Paderborn (SICP), the Joint Artificial

Intelligence Institute (JAII), and the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC²), potentially in leading roles. There is also the possibility for

collaborations with the Heinz Nixdorf Institute (HNI) and the Fraunhofer Institute for Mechatronic Systems Design (IEM). We further expect the

willingness for interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as relevant teaching experience.

We expect the ability and willingness to offer courses in the field of IT-Security in the Computer Science Bachelor’s program and the Computer Science

and Computer Engineering Master’s programs. We further expect the ability to teach in English and, within 2 years of hiring, also in German, as well as

participation in academic self-governance.

With its participation in 11 interdisciplinary research institutions, 4 collaborative research centers (with 3 spokesperson function), 2 DFG research

groups, 6 graduate colleges, and 2 DFG priority programs, Paderborn University is the ideal environment for implementing bold research ideas. As the

location of a national high-performance computing center, the university offers outstanding computing resources to implement these ideas.

Recruitment requirements: § 36 Abs. 1 Ziff. 1 to 4 HG NRW (University law of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia) (completed university degree,

pedagogical aptitude, Ph.D. degree, and additional academic achievements).

Since Paderborn University seeks to increase the number of female professors, applications of woman are especially welcome. In case of equal

qualification and scientific achievements, they will receive preferential treatment according to the North Rhine-Westphalian Equal Opportunities

Policy (LGG), unless there are cogent reasons to give preference to another applicant. Likewise, applications of disabled people with appropriate

qualification are explicitly requested. This also applies to people with equal status according to the German social law SGB IX.

Paderborn University is certified as a family-friendly university. With our Dual Career Service, we support your partner with career orientation in the

region if required. We will be happy to provide you with information about living and working in Paderborn and help you to find childcare options. If you

are coming to us from abroad, our Welcome Services will support you on your arrival in Germany.

Applications with the usual documents (curriculum vitae, research and teaching concept, certificates and diplomas, list of publications, list of

completed courses including teaching evaluations, information on current and planned research projects, research collaborations and third-party

funded projects, language certificates if applicable, etc.) are requested by October 28, 2026 via the application portal of Paderborn University, quoting

the reference number 7395: https://bewerbung.uni-paderborn.de/stellen/7395.
