Carl-Friedrich-Gauß-Fakultät is announcing five interrelated assistant professorships in the field of data science: Cyber Security (Computer Science), Civil Law, Technology and Mobility Law (Business Science), Data Science in Business and Finance (Business Science), Sociology, specializing in Social Structure, Data and Methods (Social Sciences), and Numerical Mathematics (Mathematics). The goal is to promote research and teaching through synergies in legal, economic, social, security-related, and mathematical issues in the field of data science
Your responsibilities
Conducting independent research in the area of practical cyber security, e.g. in software security, low-level security, network and system security, and security of AI/ML systems
Teaching in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in Computer Science, Business Informatics, and Information Systems Engineering
Supervising Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and supporting junior researchers
Applying for and conducting externally funded research projects
Active participation in academic self-governance at university and faculty level

Essential selection criteria
Outstanding scientific qualification in the field of practical cyber security, evidenced by publications at leading international venues
In-depth knowledge in at least one of the following areas: software security, low-level security, network and system security, or security of AI/ML systems
Completed doctorate (PhD) in computer science or a closely related field
Willingness to teach in both German and English
Readiness for interdisciplinary collaboration within the faculty and with other institutes
Commitment to diversity and equality

Desirable selection criteria
Initial experience in applying for or conducting externally funded projects (e.g., DFG, BMBFTR, EU)
International research experience, e.g., through research stays abroad
Experience in university teaching and/or supervision of junior researchers
Initial experience in technology transfer and industry collaboration

Applicants (f/m/d) who are 50 years or older at the time the appointment commences and who have not acquired permanent civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit) will be employed with employee status (Angestelltenverhältnis).
The employment is initially for a period of three years in a temporary civil servant relationship, provided that the general service law requirements are fulfilled. In the event of a successful interim evaluation in accordance with § 30 Para. 4 S. 2 NHG, the professorship will be extended by a further three years.
