Searching for student assistant to support the

development of a python package

The competence centre for clinical trials Bremen (KKSB) at the University of

Bremen is searching a motivated student assistant to support the package

development for a novel class of PyTorch-compatible models. The offer is for a

temporary, part-time (up to 74 hours/month) position starting at the earliest

possible date and limited to 6 months.

We previously developed the class of “LiD-GLM” models in a recent paper in the

Lifespan AI project with the goal of creating expressive, yet well-interpretable

models for tabular data. The package is already modular, functional and pipinstallable from source. However, to prepare the package for publishing and

enable usage by non-experts, we need your support to:

 Refactor and restructure the codebase for improved usability and future

feature updates

 Improve and update existing documentation to enable usage by nonexperts (e.g. in clinical research)

 Develop a comprehensive testing suite

 Improve the general user experience

This is a chance to get hands-on experience on software development for a tool

that will be published open source.

To apply, you should:

 Have solid experience with python (ideally also PyTorch)

 Be familiar with software development (e.g. version control, code

structuring, testing)

 Possess a structured, detail oriented approach with good communication
