In der Fakultät für Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften suchen wir im Fach Mathematik

eine ausgewiesene Persönlichkeit, die das Gebiet der Port-Hamiltonian Systems in

Forschung und Lehre kontinuierlich weiterentwickelt.

Aufgaben Und Anforderungen

• Einschlägige Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Port-Hamiltonian Systems; besonders

erwünscht sind die Forschungsschwerpunkte Port-Hamiltonian differential-algebraische

Gleichungen, prädiktive Regelung sowie operatortheoretische Methoden

• Klare Verbindungen zu anderen Schwerpunkten der Fachgruppe Mathematik und

Informatik

• Lehre in den Studiengängen der Mathematik, insbesondere Übernahme des Master-

Moduls „Control Theory“ in den Studiengängen Mathematik und Technomathematik

Darüber hinaus wird die Teilnahme an anderen Lehrveranstaltungen in den

Studiengängen Informatik und Mathematik sowie in den Lehramtsstudiengängen und im

Service-Bereich erwartet.

• Mitwirkung im Interdisziplinären Zentrum „Port-Hamiltonian Institute“
• Mitwirkung am Fortsetzungsantrag des Sonderforschungsbereiches 1701 Port-

Hamiltonian Systems

• Die Mitarbeit in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung wird als selbstverständlich erachtet.

Voraussetzungen

• Abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium (Master oder vergleichbar) im Fach Mathematik
• Besondere Befähigung zu wissenschaftlicher Arbeit, in der Regel nachgewiesen durch

die Qualität einer Promotion in Mathematik

• Zusätzliche einschlägige wissenschaftliche Leistungen, die bei der Berufung in ein erstes

Professor*innenamt im Rahmen einer Juniorprofessur, einer Habilitation oder einer

wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit als wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in an einer Hochschule,

Forschungseinrichtung, in Wirtschaft, Verwaltung oder einem anderen gesellschaftlichen

Bereich im In- oder Ausland erbracht wurden

• Pädagogische Eignung, die durch eine entsprechende Vorbildung nachgewiesen oder

ausnahmsweise im Berufungsverfahren festgestellt wird

• Erwünscht ist Erfahrung in der Einwerbung von Drittmitteln in koordinierten Programmen

Ihr sichtbares und zu den genannten Aufgaben und Anforderungen passendes Profil weisen

Sie in internationalen, peer-reviewed Publikationen, einschlägiger Lehrerfahrung,

internationalen Kooperationen, erfolgreichen Drittmitteleinwerbungen, Projekt /

Praxiserfahrung, Tätigkeiten in nationalen oder internationalen Gremien etc. nach. Bitte

Port-Hamiltonian Systems

The University of Wuppertal is a dynamic, networked and research-oriented campus

university. Collectively, more than 25,000 researchers, academic staff and students face the

challenges of science, education, culture, economics, society, technology and the

environment.

The University of Wuppertal invites applications for a professorship in Mathematics in the

area of port-Hamiltonian systems. The position will be based in the School of Mathematics

and Natural Science. We are looking for an outstanding personality who will continuously

develop this area in research and teaching.

Duties And Requirements

• Relevant research in the field of port-Hamiltonian systems; particularly desirable is a

focus on port-Hamiltonian differential algebraic equations, predictive control and operator

theory methods

• Clear links to other research areas within the department of Mathematics and Computer

Science

Teaching in the degree programmes in Mathematics including the module ‘Control

Theory’ in the Mathematics and Techno-Mathematics Master’s programmes. Additionally,

we expect the successful candidate to participate in other courses offered by the

department

including teachers’ training in mathematics and mathematics as a service for other

disciplines

• Participation in the interdisciplinary centre ‘Port-Hamiltonian Institute’
• Participation in the application for a renewal proposal for the Collaborative Research

Centre 1701 Port-Hamiltonian Systems

• Participation in academic self-administration is considered a matter of course.

Qualifications

• Completed degree (master or equivalent from university or university of applied sciences)

in Mathematics

• Special aptitude for academic work, usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate in

mathematics

• Further relevant scientific achievements performed during a first professorship include

junior professorships, habilitations, employment as a research assistant at a university or

at a non-university research institution and scientific positions in business, in

administration or another social field in Germany or abroad.

• Pedagogical aptitude, which is proven by appropriate previous experience or,

exceptionally, demonstrated in the appointment procedure

• Experience in acquiring third-party funding in coordinated programmes

You are able to demonstrate your qualification for the position by international, peerreviewed publications, relevant teaching experience, international orientation (e.g.,

international collaborations, activities in national and international bodies), the successful

acquisition of third-party funds, project / practical experience, etc. Please enclose relevant

certificates and supporting documents with your application.
