We seek:

In the Faculty IV: School of Science and Technology, Chemie-Biologie/Organische Chemie I, we are looking for a researcher  as of the 01.10.2026  at the following conditions:

  • 50% = 19,92 hours  
  • Pay grade 13  TV-L
  • limited  until 30.09.2029

Your tasks:

  • Research in the field of supramolecular chemistry with the aim of obtaining a doctorate
  • Independent research and practical laboratory work including:
    • the synthesis of organic ligands
    • investigating the self-assembly of metal-organic cages
    • the characterisation of metal-organic cages (e.g. NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, UV/vis spectroscopy)
    • investigating the properties of the metal-organic cages (e.g. host-guest chemistry, photochemistry, stimuli-responsive properties)
  • Collaboration with other scientists (e.g. in inter/national collaborations)
  • Participation in the preparation and editing of publications and progress reports
  • Participation in the day-to-day supervision of Bachelor and Master’s research projects
  • teaching duties of 2 SWS

Your profile:

  • Above-average academic degree (Master or equivalent) in Chemistry
  • A Master’s thesis in the field of supramolecular chemistry is an advantage, especially with aspects of organic synthesis, coordination chemistry and metal-organic cages
  • Completed modules in supramolecular chemistry during a Bachelor or Master’s degree is desirable
  • Experience with the following is advantageous:
    • organic ligand synthesis
    • the synthesis of coordination complexes and metal-organic cages
    • the synthesis of air- and water-sensitive compounds (e.g. by Schlenk techniques and/or in a glovebox)
    • the characterisation of supramolecular structures using spectroscopy (e.g. diamagnetic and paramagnetic NMR, UV/vis, CD, fluorescence) and mass spectrometry
    • investigating the properties of metal-organic cages (e.g. host-guest chemistry, light-responsive properties)
    • photochemistry (e.g. the synthesis and investigation of the photophysical properties of photoswitches)
  • Experience with/interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Very good knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Participation in scientific exchanges (e.g. conferences) and/or publications is desirable
  • Experience in teaching, especially in the field of organic chemistry and/or supramolecular chemistry, is an advantage
