The Chair of Metaphysics (Prof. Dr. Alyssa Ney) investigates metaphysical topics from an analytical perspective, aiming for an approach that is scientifically based, historically informed, and socially engaged.

Your tasks and responsibilities:
The candidate will write a doctoral dissertation on metaphysical questions related to quantum physics under the supervision of Professor Alyssa Ney. They will also be expected to participate in the weekly group activities of the ERC project.
Your qualifications:
Candidates are required to have a masters degree in philosophy or philosophy of science, with a strong background in philosophy of physics and metaphysics. Additional background training in physics is welcome. All work will be conducted in English.

The Chair of Metaphysics in the Faculty of Philosophy at LMU Munich invites applications for one PhD position in a European Research Council supported project on the metaphysics of quantum physics. The starting date is October 1, 2027.
Remuneration is based on the TV-L E13 pay scale (65%). The Chair of Metaphysics is a vibrant center of research at LMU Munich, which hosts regular workshops, a colloquium series, and other events through the academic year.
