The third-party funded position is offered for a period of 3 years, if no former times of qualification must be considered. The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is part-time (75 % of regular working hours) with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 75 %).

Our group works on innovative solar cell technologies for a sustainable future energy system. Our focus is on perovskite-based tandem solar cells and the use of sustainable materials. We operate a high-end laboratory environment for the processing and characterisation of perovskite solar cells.

In a collaborative DFG project, we are investigating novel hydrogen bonded organic framework (HOF) materials for their use in opto-electronic devices. The goal is to understand the physical properties of these novel materials and to integrate them in potentially highly efficient, stable solar cells.

Tasks:

  • Scientific services in research, in particular
    • Optical and electrical characterisation of novel hydrogen bonded organic framework (HOF) materials, especially by photoluminescence-based techniques
    • Process development for the deposition of films containing organic frameworks
    • Production and characterisation of solar cells
    • Publication of the scientific results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
  • You can gain teaching experience in particular as part of the „Physics of Green Technologies“ degree programme

The position is limited to a time period deemed adequate for the completion of a doctoral degree. As part of the assigned duties, there will be ample opportunity to conduct the independent scientific research necessary for the completion of a doctorate. The limitation complies to Section 2(1) of the German Academic Fixed-Term Contract Act (WissZeitVG).

Profile:

  • MSc-degree or equivalent in chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering, or related subjects
  • Independent Self-reliant way of working
  • Deep understanding in semi-conductor physics or organic framework materials
  • Previous knowledge in the fields of photovoltaics, perovskite solar cell production, thin-film technologies and the characterisation and simulation of semiconductor materials is an advantage

Disposition to own scientific qualification (e.g. a doctorate project in the area of novel material systems for photovoltaics) is expected.
