The Institute of Organic Chemistry in the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy at the University of Münster is seeking to fill the position of a

Postdoctoral Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche*r Mitarbeiter*in, salary level E 13 TV-L)

from 1 October 2026. We are offering a fixed-term full-time position for 2 years. Full-time employees are required to teach 4 hours per week during the semester.

Your tasks:

  • collaboration in research and teaching
  • providing students with subject-related expertise and instruction on applying scientific methods conducting independent research
  • contributing to the administration of the working group
  • maintaining the infrastructure of the working group

Our expectations:

  • A doctoral degree (PhD or Dr. rer. nat.) in the field of chemistry is required.
  • Good command of written and spoken English is expected.
  • We also expect substantiated knowledge of
  • organic chemistry and radical chemistry,
  • standard analytical methods (e.g. NMR, UV-vis, IR),
  • standard laboratory techniques (e.g. working under inert gas),
  • the independent processing of a methodological research project, and
  • electrochemical techniques and interpretation.
  • We also expect theoretical and practical experience in research in
  • radical chain mechanisms,
  • radical polar crossover reactions,
  • photoredox and photochemical transformations,
  • radical fluoroalkyation, and o organic frameworks.
