The Hertie School is one of Europe’s leading schools of governance, dedicated to preparing leaders for public service, business, and civil society. Located in the heart of Berlin, our newly renovated campus at the Robert Koch Forum offers modern event spaces, state-of-the-art facilities, and an inspiring environment for academic and public engagement. We host a wide range of academic, professional, and public events that bring together students, faculty, policymakers, partners, and international guests. As our event portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and highly service-oriented Event Manager to support and further develop our Event & Campus Operations activities. This role combines event management, hospitality, customer service excellence, operational coordination, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering outstanding event experiences and supporting the continued development of event services on Hertie School’s modern campus.

The position reports jointly to the Director Facility Management & Campus Operations and the Director Communications and requires close collaboration across departments. As Event Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering a diverse portfolio of internal and external events while ensuring an outstanding experience for all stakeholders. You will be the primary point of contact for internal and external event organizers, partners, and service providers while coordinating an operational team and related event staff.

  • Expand the rental business with external commercial partners and acquiresuitable events to the Hertie School;
  • Oversee and plan, organize, and execute a broad portfolio of internal and external academic, corporate and institutional events;
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external event organizers;
  • Develop and continuously improve standardized event and service concepts;
  • Coordinate participant management and event logistics;
  • Manage catering providers, suppliers, and external service partners;
  • Ensure excellent customer service;
  • Collaborate closely with Communications on event promotion and stakeholder communication and with Facility Management regarding technical, security, and operational requirements;
  • Coordinate and lead a team of two colleagues;
  • Prepare regular operational reports and event evaluations;
  • Manage event budgets, cost tracking, and post-event reviews;
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Professional qualification in Event Management;
  • Networks across Berlin and Germany;
  • Three or more years of professional experience in event management in Germany;
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, experience with political convening is a plus;
  • Exceptional customer-service orientation;
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Professional appearance and confident interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure;
  • Strong commercial awareness and a solution-oriented mindset;
  • English and German at C2 level, spoken and written;
  • Experience in sales, business development, venue management, client acquisition;
  • Experience coordinating teams and event staff;
  • Experience in hospitality, conference centers, or similar environments.
