29.10.2026 THE SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY AT LEUPHANA UNIVERSITY OF LÜNEBURG INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING FULL PROFESSORSHIP:

Advertising and Consumer Psychology & Marketing (W2/W3)

For this position, we are seeking a committed researcher with an excellent international research profile whose work advances leading discourses at the interface of psychology, marketing, and behavioral science. Your research focuses on how consumers perceive, evaluate, and respond to marketing-related stimuli, and how these processes shape judgments, decisions, choices, and interactions with brands and organizations across complex and rapidly transforming contexts, including digital environments and sustainability-related consumption. Methodologically, you draw on a strong quantitative-empirical toolkit, including (quasi‑)experimental methods and field and observational research. Your work is characterized by methodological rigor, open science practices, and a clear orientation toward real-world applicability and impact. Ideally, you complement established approaches with innovative methods, such as large-scale behavioral data analysis, to contribute to evidence-based marketing practice as well as methodological advancements in the field.

You demonstrate research excellence through a coherent publication strategy with a track record of publications in leading, highly ranked international journals in consumer-oriented psychology, marketing, or behavioral science, complemented by a promising publication pipeline and a viable strategy for the coming years. You are active in leading international scientific associations and conferences and have established an international research network. You have experience in acquiring and collaborating on competitive third-party funded research projects, ideally including interdisciplinary applications, and pursue a clear strategy for future external funding acquisition. You have already obtained supervision and leadership experience through successful supervision of early-stage researchers (PhD, PostDoc) and through leading larger research teams, for example, in collaborative interdisciplinary research projects or in self-acquired competitive third-party funded projects. Your academic work gives evidence of your ability to collaborate with partners inside and outside academia and your strong commitment to interdisciplinary dialogue. You have established strong networks both nationally and internationally with stakeholders from business, politics and society and contribute actively to science communication and knowledge transfer.

You have proven experience in the supervision of students (Bachelor, Master, PhD) and can document your teaching experience in seminars and lectures in the subject areas of this professorship. As a teacher, you guide and mentor students through the challenges of conducting relevant and rigorous research. Your teaching responsibilities at the School of Management and Technology will include the full marketing curriculum across our programs, covering both foundational lectures and advanced electives in marketing and consumer behavior. At the interface of psychology and business administration, you strengthen the integration of psychological perspectives into management education and prepare students to understand and address complex market environments from a behavioral perspective. You share the understanding of the university as an educational community and actively support the School’s mission and responsible management education.

The professorship is embedded in an excellent research, teaching, and innovation environment at the School of Management and Technology, where interdisciplinary collaboration is strongly encouraged. The School explicitly focuses on the thematic areas of digitalization, transformation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship, and the professorship is expected to contribute to these profile areas through research, teaching, and knowledge transfer, thereby strengthening psychology-informed approaches to management and societal transformation. The professorship is further situated within the broader academic environment of Leuphana University, where psychology serves as a central hub science connecting research across disciplines.

The professional position will be filled in accordance with pay grade W2/W3 (university full professorship). Formal requirements are based on § 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) and include a university degree in Psychology or a discipline relevant to the open position and a doctoral degree in Psychology, Marketing, or related fields; your aptitude for teaching and your ability to engage in independent academic research as demonstrated by the above-average quality of your dissertation, and additional academic achievements obtained, i.e. in the course of being an assistant professor, during your postdoctoral qualification (German: Habilitation) or other achievements recognized as being equivalent to a postdoctoral qualification.

At Leuphana University of Lüneburg you will find an academic community that is open to changes in perspective and cultivates dialogue among different disciplines as well as between research and practice. We are committed to addressing the challenges of the 21st century civil society with dedication and vigour. As an institution in the liberal arts tradition, we guide our students to think, question and act independently. Our professors promote PR(i)ME and awareness of gender and diversity issues in both teaching and research. Active participation in academic self-administration is expected.
