The Social Cognitive Systems Research Group, based in the Faculty of Engineering, investigates how modern AI systems can successfully interact and collaborate with humans or other technical agents. To this end, the group focuses in particular on developing models of artificial communicative, social, and cooperative intelligence at the intersection of AI (cognitive and machine learning), linguistics, cognitive science, and human agent/robot interaction. Relevant questions concern, for example, multimodal and dialogic interaction, interactive machine learning, social cognition and theory of mind, and human-AI/robot teamwork in various application areas (ranging from work and medicine to education and gaming).
Ihre Aufgaben
- contribute to research on AI systems with capabilities for cooperative and social
interaction, particularly the development and application of human-centered methods
of machine learning and AI techniques for communicative, collaborative agents (60 %) - contribute to the preparation of scientific publications, presentations, and project proposals (5 %)
- assisting with the organization and implementation of the research group’s undergraduate teaching (seminars, tutorials, projects, lectures, supervision of theses) (4 contact hours per week) (25 %)
- assisting with the organization of the research group (project management, website, laboratory and computer infrastructure, etc.) (10 %)

Ihr Profil
- a very strong scientific university degree in a relevant academic field with a focus on computer science/artificial intelligence or cognitive systems/cognitive science
- theoretical and practical knowledge of modern methods in artificial intelligence and machine learning
- knowledge in the areas of interactive systems, social cognition/interaction, and human-agent/AI Interaction
- extensive programming experience in Python, C/C++, and Java
- excellent command of written and spoken English
- independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
- excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
- good proficiency in German
- technical knowledge of Linux, web technologies, and computer networks
- teaching experience in the fields of artificial intelligence, cognitive systems, and human-computer interaction
