Research associate in the protective forests and natural hazards sector
Aufgaben
- Participate in a national research project to promote biodiversity in protective forests
- Model the protective effect of forests against landslides and rockfall, including the influence of deadwood
- Derive indicators of the protective effect
- Analyse relationships between the protective effect and forest structures
- Write scientific reports and publications
Anforderungen
- MSc in Environmental Sciences, Forest Sciences, Geography
- PhD an advantage
- Experience in modelling landslide and/or rockfall processes and the protective effect of forests
- Knowledge of natural hazard processes, in particular rockfall and landslides as well as protective forest management
- Experience in the use of GIS as well as Python or R
- Confidence in mountain terrain and experience in field surveys an advantage
- Native German or French speaker with good knowledge of the other language; good knowledge of English
