The Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology is seeking support for the Micro-project “Mehr innovative Lehre wagen!” (2026/2027 funding line). The research focuses on innovative teaching practices and involves the qualitative analysis of interview texts and diary entries to investigate “Epistemic Agency” in the context of AI-supported learning. To collect and analyze the data for this project, the research institute is hiring a 

Student Assistant (m/f/d, 28 hours/month).

The positions are to be filled for two distinct phases: Phase A: July 2026 to September 2026; Phase B: January 2027 to February 2027.

Typical activities: 

As a student assistant, you will support organizational and research-related tasks throughout the project timeline:

  • Evaluation & Refinement: Supporting the interim evaluation of Phase 1 results and helping refine disciplinary AI prompts based on student feedback.
  • Qualitative Analysis: Assisting with the processing and coding of qualitative post-course semi-structured interviews.
  • Synthesis & Dissemination: Supporting the synthesis of results and helping prepare the final report and academic dissemination materials.

Your profile: 

  • Enrolled Student: Currently enrolled in a master’s program in Education Sciences, Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
  • Research Interest: A strong interest in qualitative research methods, text analysis, and the intersection of education and AI.
  • Methodological Skills: Initial experience or interest in processing semi-structured interviews and qualitative data synthesis.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken skills in both German and English (essential for data processing and communication).
  • Soft Skills: A structured, independent, and reliable approach to work, with a passion for collaborative work in an interdisciplinary environment.
