The Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics is looking as soon as possible for a

Student Assistant for SMART Program Coordination and Operations (m/f/d)

The Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1597 Small Data at the Institute of Medical Biometry and Statistics brings together researchers from a variety of disciplines, including statistics, mathematics, computer science, and biomedicine, to tackle the challenges of data analysis in small data settings. 

Withing the CRC we have a structured doctoral program called SMART (the SmallData Integrated Research Training Group). We provide supports for the doctoral researchers through interdisciplinary qualification activities such as transferable skills training, regular meetings, supervision programs, master labs and annual retreats.

To support these activities, we are looking for a motivated Student Assistant who will contribute to the daily organization and communication of the SMART doctoral program.

Your role:

• you will support day-to-day SMART coordination so activities run smoothly for all stakeholders

• keep calendars, checklists, and trackers up to date (for meetings, deadlines, and tasks)

• Support SMART communication (i.e. drafting internal announcements) and promotion (i.e. drafting website and social media posts, designing visuals)

• contribte to the program data management through accurate entry and handling of SMART-related information in speadsheets and databases

• Support event planning via preparing event materials, participant communication, logistics during the event, and follow-up documentation

• Support meeting planning and logistics via scheduling, minute-taking and follow up on open action points

Your qualifications:

•   flexibility and availability, with the ability to adapt to varying schedules and project needs

•   good organizational and communication skills

•   detail-oriented and reliable with a proactive mindset

•   ability to work independently with prior instructions, managing your own deadlines, milestones and deliverables

•   experience with spreadsheets and/or database software (i.e REDCap)

•   experience with event organization, coordination or administrative tasks

•   confidence handling communication with diverse stakeholders

•   interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration

•   proficiency in English (German is an asset)

•   Physically located in the Freiburg area.

Desirable:

•   basic familiarity with scripting (e.g. simple form logic in REDCap)

•   experience with communication and visual tools (e.g., WordPress, Canva, LinkedIn)

•   experience in academic environments

The working hours will be ideally 40 hours per month, and the employment contract will initially be for one year, with possibility of extension.
