The Cluster of Excellence “Climate, Climatic Change, and Society” (CLICCS) investigates climate dynamics and climate-related social dynamics, as well as the interactions between the two. To this end, we are looking for colleagues from a wide range of disciplines, including the natural sciences as well as the social sciences. Your responsibilities
Duties include academic services in the project named above. Research associates may also pursue further academic qualifications outside of their work responsibilities. They may also pursue doctoral studies outside of working duties.
Doctoral candidates are members of the structured doctoral program of the School of Integrated Climate and Earth System Sciences (SICSS), which provides high-quality, interdisciplinary, and internationally oriented training.
The successful candidate will investigate the overall economic costs associated with extreme weather events, including direct, indirect, and cascading impacts, under different climate futures. They will analyze how differing regional climate risks or extreme weather events can influence patterns of investment and examine the potential for guiding sustainable investments for climate change adaptation and mitigation. The role also involves contributing to the development and refinement of macroeconomic models that incorporate these behavioral responses and impacts. Overall, the position aims to deepen the understanding of the economic consequences of climate change and extreme weather events, providing valuable insights for policy and decision-making.
Your profile
A university degree in a relevant field.
The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and eager to work in a vibrant, international, and interdisciplinary environment. They possess solid knowledge of fundamental economic concepts and have experience in macroeconomic modeling. Additionally, the candidate should have proven skills in programming macroeconomic models and experience in statistical data analysis. A good understanding of physical climate change processes and the socio-economic impacts of climate extremes is also highly desirable. Strong team spirit, openness to collaboration across disciplines, and a motivation to develop innovative approaches are essential qualities for this position.
