Our client is the Tierklinik Nürnberg Hafen, the leading small animal clinic in Northern

Bavaria. For over 30 years, this owner-managed clinic has stood for top-quality veterinary

medicine, consistency in structure and organisation, a friendly working atmosphere and a

secure future. With a team of around 140 dedicated staff, including leading specialists in

surgery, internal medicine, anaesthesia, ENT and cardiology, animal healthcare of the

highest standard is guaranteed here.

The clinic offers state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities. The clinic management promotes a

culture of flat hierarchies and close, long-standing, and collegial cooperation. This presents

a unique opportunity to work alongside an experienced team in a clinic where a member of

the management is always present, even at weekends.

As part of the initial recruitment for a newly created position, we are seeking a veterinary

surgeon (m/f/d) as

Small Animal Neurologist (m/f/d)

The role:

  • As a specialist in small animal neurology, you will be a key member of the

veterinary expert team and act as a bridge between the surgical and internal

medicine departments

  • You will conduct neurological consultations independently and on your own

responsibility, and will be the first point of contact for pet owners, colleagues and

referring vets for all neurological queries

  • Where necessary, you will perform surgery yourself or work closely with the

relevant colleagues

  • The wide-ranging use of state-of-the-art internal and external diagnostic tools

enables professional diagnosis and appropriately targeted treatment.

You will pay particular attention to the various imaging techniques. You will lead the

existing team accordingly, perform CT and MRI scans yourself in particular, and

independently interpret the images

  • You make full use of the medical options available and, in consultation with your

colleagues, establish new standards

  • By designing and delivering training programmes for all clinic staff, you will enrich

their daily work both professionally and personally

  • With your confident and competent manner, you will become another key

figurehead for the clinic.

  • Your line manager is the Head of the Internal Medicine Department

The requirements:

  • Enjoy working with colleagues and pet owners
  • A degree in veterinary medicine and several years’ practical experience in the

clinical department of a veterinary faculty or private veterinary clinic

  • Completed residency or ECVN diploma status. Alternatively, a specialist qualification

in ‘Neurology in Small and Companion Animals’

  • The ability to work independently and a sound knowledge of imaging are essential.

Ideally, you will be able to perform CT and MRI scans yourself and interpret the

images entirely independently

  • Motivation and passion to continually deepen your specialist neurological

knowledge, to keep up to date with the latest scientific developments, and to share

your expertise with colleagues at the clinic

The offer:

You will have the opportunity to contribute your specialist knowledge to a dynamic team of

generalists and specialists and to continue developing your skills. You can look forward to

an exciting and responsible role involving a wide variety of neurological cases from a large

catchment area. Of particular note is the close and efficient collaboration with both the

internal medicine and surgical departments. To ensure a successful start, you will receive

comprehensive support from the clinic’s experienced consultants and senior consultants.

The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including high-end

ultrasound diagnostics, endoscopy, C-arm, CT, MRI, and internal and external laboratory

diagnostics. This provides you with virtually unlimited diagnostic options.

In addition to regular working hours without night or on-call duties, you will benefit from

flexible working time arrangements and a generous training budget.

The clinic is located on the outskirts of Nuremberg, a liveable city of great historical and

cultural significance. The workplace is just a few minutes’ journey by public transport from

the city centre. The Nuremberg region offers excellent conditions for your partner’s career,

your family’s needs and your leisure activities. Accessibility by all modes of transport is

ideal. The high quality of life and the wide range of leisure opportunities, including

Franconian Switzerland and various lakes, are highly valued by the local residents.
