The Chair of Internet Business (Professor Jan Krämer) invites applications for the position

of

Doctoral or Postdoctoral Researcher

to start at the earliest convenience.

This is a fully-funded full-time position (100% FTE) with social security and healthcare

contributions, based on a fixed-term contract valid for a period of three years, with the option

of renewal. Remuneration is in accordance with pay grade E13 of the German public-sector

collective agreement, TV-L, and currently ranges from €59,324(step 1) to €66,896 (step 3)

annually; the salary step depends on your qualifications and experience.

The position is part of an interdisciplinary project on ‘Resilient Regulation in Digital Markets’,

funded by the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation. The successful candidate

will devote part of their time to developing and working on experimental studies related to the

project, particularly regarding standardisation processes in digital industries. In addition, the

candidate will contribute to the coordination of the project and the dissemination of its results.

What we seek

  • You are a highly motivated graduate with an excellent master’s degree in economics,

information systems, industrial engineering, management or a related field of study.

Applications are also welcome from candidates who have (or will shortly have) completed

a doctoral degree in a related field. Preliminary part-time employment up to 0.5 full-time

equivalent in line with pay grade E12 TV-L may be arranged temporarily for candidates

who have not yet completed their master’s thesis. Please contact us for details.

  • Very good analytical skills and a keen interest in the economics of the digital economy,

digital markets, digital platforms, AI or related topics in the Chair’s field of research. The

research projects can be chosen based on your personal interests.

  • Ability to work in an international team, open-mindedness, and the motivation to work on a

research project independently and diligently.

  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills. Knowledge of German is not a

requirement. The working language at the chair is English.

completing their doctorates. The aim is to complete the doctorate within three years.

economic regulation of the digital economy.

  • Opportunity to join the structured doctoral programme of the interdisciplinary

Research Training Group 2720 Digital Platform Ecosystems (see https://dpe.unipassau.de/en) funded by the German Research Community (DFG).

  • Participation in the teaching activities of the chair in the form of lectures and the

supervision of students’ seminar papers and dissertations/theses.

  • The chair is involved in several large-scale research projects with national and

international partners and regularly hosts leading international scholars.

one of the most beautiful university locations in Germany.
